Well we have Smith and Jones at the Tardis controls now and even though he has made a statement that She will not replace Rose, Martha will fit in fine. The Shakespeare Code had an interesting scene where they have to stay in a room together, with one bed.
The Doctor asks if she's going to stand there all night so she gets in bed almost to the point of expecting a little snogging but none happens. It was a funny scene.

I think Martha (who's last name is Jones ) fits better with the Tenth Doctor over Rose. THat's not to say Billie wasn't good playing Rose alongside him, just that she was younger (innocent). Martha however, has had to deal with a lot of stuff with her family, and can stand up to more stuff. Needless to say, in "The Shakespeare Code," when she yelled to get out of the cell when the witch was threatening them didn't mean she can't be scared. One other human trait I noticed is that sometimes she does things and they backfire, such as the name calling chant stuff in the above ep. The witch does it to her and knocks Martha out. You can tell Freema's enjoying playing the role, which is why I think people have taken a shine to her faster than they did Billie.

True, but Martha is more of a thinker. The way she figures things out is great. Rose was great too. She thought with her heart and Martha goes with her head more. Now don't get me wrong I love them both. I think they are wonderful companions just pointing out differences.
companions are tough just as the doctor's are to get. You don't want just anyone playing the part. You want someone to hold up to the test.
My least fave companions are Turlough Adric Tegan and Nyssa and Peri (with Doc 6 She was stronger with Doc 5). I watched Peter's Doctor all the way through. I didn't feel he was as strong as the others, but it did pick up after Snakedance. Kinda was good too.

In Utopia, Martha discovers Rose has a following. Not only the Doctor but Jack as well. She seems to be handling it better. Maybe because the fact she's not there? She still has issues, like is everything she does a reminder of Rose? She wants the Doctor to see her. Understandable. But where will it go? Can she hold up? Was Rose holding out in hopes of the Doctor giving in to the physical? What will Martha do? I have a feeling she may just come out and express her feelings. I don't think it would be one of those tender moments though. It may just cross on the border of if she will continue to stay. don't get me wrong, I don't want her to go. I thinks she is a great companion but i think her reason for staying will have to be examined. Is it because the Doctor is lonely? is it because she loves him? Both? I know she can withstand a lot of things but the personal emotions...can she, in the end, stand up against them?....

In the next ep I can't wait. We are going to see just what Martha can do on her own. she is determined. I know it was a hard decision to come to, leaving the Doctor and Jack, but I"m sure she felt she could do better on the outside.
The question is...what can the doctor and Jack do on the inside?...
