Ralph got out of his car. It had been a tough day for him, but what he wasn't prepared for, was Bill reclining on a chair in his living room.
Bill stood up. "Did you hear this," Bill started, sounding exasperated, "Carliel said that I have to pay for all those cars I destroyed. Would you believe it? Come on. I'm the number one agent, and he's got me up for those cars..."
Bill was still muttering on when he saw that Ralph wasn't there anymore.
He walked over to the bedroom, and there was Ralph, sound asleep in his bed.
Bill sighed. He walked back to the living room, and he too fell asleep. When Ralph awoke in the morning, Bill had the radio on and was listening intensly.
"They let him out again," whispered Bill.
"Who?" asked Ralph.
"Our old friend Torchy."
"Maybe he's gained some sense." Ralph said.
"Torchy, nah."
"Listen I got to go."
"Would you keep an eye out for him?"
"Fine."
"Could you give me a ride? Carliel took away my government car," Bill said wishfully.
Ralph siged as he readied a quick breakfast. He drove Bill home, and he drove of to school.
Coming home that evening, he had on the radio when it anounced that a huge fire had been started in down town Losangelas, Ralph turned right around. He hadn't gone far when off in the distance he saw smoke. As he neared it, he saw huge red flames rising up over the building. There was a crowd of people at the site, but Ralph had Bill dpied out quickly. Ralph, behind a buiding, ripped off his clothes and got into his suit.
One, two, three, and he soared up, only to come crashing down on the roof of a buiding. Starting up again, he landed on a balcony of the buiding that was bieng devoured by flames. He tiptoed in, and ran back. He saw fires all over. the air was very hard to breathe. Then, he saw something. Someone had thrown something. He looked again, and saw that a new small fire was starting up.
"That's it," he thought, "Torchy and his gang are spreading the fire."
He ran through the building. Boards cracked behind him going up in flames and ash as he dodged the fires. He shot through. Fire trucks were all over now spraying up water. Ralph continued to run. He saw stairs. He heard hurrying feet running down them. He followed. He caught a glimpse of the criminals as they dissapeared into the crowd. Ralph ran out, but as he ran, people walked outward to let him pass.
People were mumbling things like, "Make way for the crazy."
Ralph ran and in a flash he was hid again as he changed back into his clothes, and walked out in search of Bill.
Bill was dumbfounded when he found out that Ralph hadn't caught Torchy.
"Ralph, you let them get away again?"
"I couldn't help it. They ran and then they just dissapeared into the crowd."
"You can't just let this go Ralph," said Bill, "This is a first class murderer."
"I can't do anything."
"Wait a minute," said Bill. Why don't you rind that piece of cloth he left behind last time and try to get some vibes."
"I can try," responded Ralph.
Ralph went to his closet and took out the piece of cloth. He put it over his head.
"Anything?" asked Bill.
"Wait," said Ralph, "I'm getting something."
"Where?"
"They're at that abandoned theatre down town."
"What are they doing?"
"They're, wait, they've go Pam!"
"It's a trick. They're bribing you."
"We've got to go! Pam's life is in jeopordy! We have to do something!"
"You're doing excatly what they want you to do," said Bill.
Ralph drove over to the old theatre with Bill right beside him, holding the cloth. They parked a block away.
Ralph again put on the cloth, and he saw Pam gagged and tied down. In the back, he saw Torchy talking to someone.
Ralph got out of the car. Took three steps and was up in the air. Bill strained to look at him from his window. Ralph landed on the theatre roof as Bill pulled up in the back hiding his car.
Ralph jumped down to the fire escape below and waked in the door. Again he put on the piece of cloth. Pam was lying on the floor out cold and Torchy was climbing into a car.
Ralph shot down the dim hall and through a door onto the balcony where under the second row seats Pam was lying.
Ralph ripped out the piece of material in her mouth and stood her up. She slowly regained conciousnes.
"Where?..."
"We're in the theatre," Ralph said gently, "Torchy got you tied up. Do you know where he went?"
"He went that way when I last saw him," Pam said pointing her finger at the box seat next to the balcony. "He jumped right form here to there."
"Come on," Ralph said. They walked slowly back to the parking lot where they could just see Bill's car parked in the bushes. Pam walked to the car while Ralph took his familiar three steps.
He soared up high over the trees, and spotted far far away, red car. Torchy's.
Ralph followed, but he was too far away. Ralph continued flying until he knew that he had to return home.
Bill found Ralph lying on the couch at his home and Bill could hear Pam in the kitchen. Bill was very exasperated.
"You let them get away, again?!" Bill said incredulusly.
"I couldn't get them. They were too far away."
"Put that thing over your head again," Bill said.
"Tomarro. I need some rest."
Bill left it at that knowing that it couldn't acomplish anything.
The next day was a weekend, and again, in the morning, Bill was found in Ralph's living room. He was sound asleep on Ralph's couch when Ralph awoke. Ralph woke him up.
"I wasn't asleep," Bill said boldly.
"What were you doing then?" asked Ralph.
"I was aaaa resting my eyes. Yeah. just resting my eyes."
"And you snore when you're resting your eyes?" asked Ralph.
"Well aaa you never know," Bill finished lamely.
They were soon up and breakfasted, though. Ralph was soon ready to try on the cloth again. This time he saw Torhy driving back to the theatre.
"Come on!" Ralph said.
Bill was soon parked again, although this time with Pam. Ralph this time came in the front door. Inside he heard Torchy running around.
Ralph went in, and walked up into the balcony. He looked down onto the stage, where off to one side he saw Torchy talking with two other people.
"This time, it's going to be the bank," Ralph heard Torchy say, "You guys go in, start the fire and I'll run in. Got it?"
The two departed, but Ralph was too quick for Torchy. He was down in a flash with Torchy, and a couple minutes later, he was out at Bill's car. Ralph explaned. Bill was bringing Torchy to Carliel, but Ralph had another job. He took off toward the bank. He could see two supicius people getting out of a car, there pockets loaded. Ralph called the police on a pay phone. They were there in a flash. The two peoples car was loaded with matches and cloths. The two were brought to custody. Ralph changed back into his regular clothes. He realized that his tie was missing. He ran over to the theatre, and there it was on fire. Ralph siged, but then laghed and then ran home.
Bill was there.
"Guess what? he said. "Carliel gave back my car."
Bill stood up. "Did you hear this," Bill started, sounding exasperated, "Carliel said that I have to pay for all those cars I destroyed. Would you believe it? Come on. I'm the number one agent, and he's got me up for those cars..."
